What is dog enrichment?
Share
Enrichment is anything that lets a dog use their natural instincts โ sniffing, licking, searching, solving and chewing โ in a safe, satisfying way. Dogs weren't bred to sit around; they were bred to work, hunt, herd or guard, and most of that instinct has nowhere to go in a modern home.
A daily walk covers the physical side. Enrichment covers the mental side: a snuffle mat to forage in, a puzzle feeder that makes dinner a challenge, a lick mat that turns five minutes into a calming ritual.
The result is a dog who is tired in the right way โ the kind of tired that ends in a long, satisfied nap instead of 10pm zoomies.
