Snuffle mats explained
Share
A snuffle mat is a textured mat where treats or kibble get hidden between fabric strips, so your dog has to sniff them out instead of eating from a bowl. It sounds simple, but scent-foraging is one of a dog's favourite natural jobs — the same instinct that drives them to sniff every lamppost on a walk.
Ten to fifteen minutes of snuffling can be as mentally tiring as a much longer walk, which makes it perfect for rainy days, older dogs, or anxious pups who need a calm, focused activity. It also naturally slows down fast eaters, since food has to be worked for rather than gulped.
